Tribute to Usher

Usher is a teen R&B sensation with undeniable vocal and dance talents rivaled only by the king of pop himself, Michael Jackson.

The King of Pop Is Dead! Long Live The King of Pop! The newly crowned King of Pop being, of course, Usher Raymond (simply Usher to his fans and friends), the Atlanta-based R&B sensation who is currently dominating the charts like no one has in the past 30 or 40 years.

A strong statement, but consider this. When three of Usher’s singles from his current multiplatinum selling disc Confessions simultaneously found their way onto Billboard’s Top 100 singles chart, it marked the first time ever that a solo artist had accomplished the feat, and also the first time since both The Beatles and The Bee Gees had done so in the sixties and seventies respectively.

Further proof? Over 25 million CDs sold since Usher’s teenaged, self-titled debut in 1994 (the great bulk of those being for Confessions and 2001’s 8701). Multiple Grammy Awards, as well as Soul Train Music Awards, BET Awards, Billboard Awards and what have you. Sold out performances everywhere from Madison Square Garden to London’s Wembley Stadium to South Africa, Nigeria and Europe. And television appearances (notably and ironically in Michael Jackson’s 30th Anniversary Special) and even movies. Truly, the buff young soul sensation has taken the world by storm.
